Yesterday, Wednesday, June 18, was a truly refreshing day. My weekly walking session with the Atalante X exoskeleton 2 in New York City continues to be my ultimate happy place. It’s where I go to find relief and relaxation 4, a place where I can truly forget about all the things weighing me down.
This session was unique because I decided to unplug completely. I didn’t once ask about my step count or how much the assistance had been lowered. And honestly? That simple shift made the entire session even better. It allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience, focusing on how my body felt and the joy of movement.
I was thrilled to bring the assistance down to 30% and spent a good amount of time doing backward walking. I absolutely love backward walking because I can feel my glute muscles engaging. They don’t get much use otherwise, so it’s incredibly important to work them11. I also threw in some squats, which are always a blast!
By the end of what I thought would be the session, I had only completed 1,600 steps, but I wasn’t ready to stop! The feeling of empowerment and lightness was so strong that I decided to do another lap, bringing my total steps to 1,710. It was a perfect reminder that sometimes, the best way to move forward is to let go of the numbers and enjoy the journey. can’t wait until next week!
