Last night, October 30, 2024, around 6:45 p.m., I had an extraordinary experience – a moment of joy I haven’t felt in a very long time. I had the privilege of standing and walking again, using Wandercraft’s Atalante X exoskeleton. It’s truly the most remarkable device; far superior to any other exoskeleton I’ve tried.
The Atalante X is more than just a technological marvel; it represents hope and the potential for dreams to become reality. This recent session was particularly meaningful, something I had eagerly anticipated since May 3rd, 2024. (To be precise, that’s 25 weeks, 181 days, 4320 hours, 259200 minutes, and 1555200
Walking again, I felt muscles engage that have been dormant for nearly two decades. I rediscovered sensations and movements I thought were lost; even simple movements, like the flexing of my ankles, felt revelatory. The simple act of standing, feeling my feet grounded, was incredibly powerful and satisfying – something I truly miss. (While my standing chair is helpful, it’s not the same as the real thing!
The return of proprioception, that innate sense of my body in space, was profound, bringing a sense of clarity and contentment I hadn’t felt in years. It was like reclaiming a lost part of myself. Beyond the physical movement, the Atalante X also dramatically improves my breathing and overall well-being and even made me sweat – a sensation I haven’t experienced in years!.
Words can’t fully express the pleasure, self-satisfaction, and peace this experience brought. As someone who has been wheelchair-bound for almost 19 years, the ability to stand and walk is transformative. It restores my sense of self and my belief in what’s possible; being able to stand up, walk, and be active makes me feel alive and worthy.

I’m filled with gratitude, a renewed sense of possibility, perseverance, motivation, and determination. The road ahead may have its difficulties, but I’m now equipped with a stronger sense of purpose and the belief that anything is achievable.
