A New Home, A New Design, and a Major Step Forward for Accessibility
Hello everyone!
If you’ve been following my journey, you know how much this website- a home for my writing, assistive technology insights, and disability-related resources- means to me. Over the next few weeks, you’ll start to see exciting updates!
A Stronger Foundation: Hosting Migration
We’re moving to a new, more reliable hosting platform. This change will bring:
- Faster loading times
- Less downtime
- A smoother, more stable browsing experience
My goal is for everyone to enjoy quick, dependable access to my content, no matter how you browse the web. While my team minimizes disruptions, there may be brief maintenance periods during this transition.
Accessibility at the Forefront: The Redesign
. The most meaningful update is the complete redesign of the site’s accessibility at its heart.
As a quadriplegic writer focused on disability, assistive technology (AT), and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), I want this website to model true digital inclusion.
This work was made possible through the Knowbility Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) program—a web design competition and educational event where professional teams create accessible websites for nonprofits and community groups
Thanks to their incredible dedication, the new design includes:
- Enhanced keyboard navigation
- Improved screen reader compatibility and use of semantic HTML
- Optimized color contrast and clear, readable typography
- A fully responsive layout that adapts to mobile devices, tablets, and desktops
This redesign isn’t just about looks—it’s a statement. Everyone should be able to access and interact with content, regardless of ability or technology used.
What’s Next
The countdown is on! The new site is almost ready to launch, and I can’t wait for you to experience it firsthand.
When the redesign goes live, you can expect:
- More straightforward navigation and a cleaner layout
- Expanded sections on writing, accessibility testing, and assistive tech
- Fresh blog content and event updates
- A space that reflects both creativity and inclusion
