Walking Forward: My Journey with the Atalante X Exoskeleton and an Incredible Therapy Team

On May 28th, I hit a new milestone in my rehabilitation journey — and honestly, it was one of those days that makes you realize just how far you’ve come. I had a walking session with the Atalante X exoskeleton, and it turned out to be both challenging and deeply rewarding. I started the session with the robot’s assistance dialed in at 40%. That’s where I usually begin, just to get my bearings and warm up. But as I settled into a rhythm, I decided to push myself. I lowered the assistance first to 35%, then to 30%, testing my limits while still keeping a steady pace. In total, I walked 1,549 steps. For some, that might just be a number, but for me, it’s proof of real progress. What made this session stand out wasn’t just the step count or the reduced assistance — it was the fact that I didn’t need any “hot laps.” Usually, if I start to fatigue, we’ll increase the robot’s assistance for a lap or two so I can catch my breath. This time, I completed the entire session with less support than ever before. There were no shortcuts, no extra help — just persistence, focus, and a lot of trust in the process. The Atalante X is an incredible piece of technology. It’s honestly mind-blowing what this exoskeleton can do — every session still manages to surprise me. But as advanced as the robot is, it’s the people behind it who make the difference. My therapists aren’t just skilled professionals; they’re partners in every sense of the word. They know precisely when to push me and when to pull back, how to keep me motivated, and how to make the whole experience feel not just productive but genuinely enjoyable. Their dedication and commitment are what turn a routine session into a breakthrough.I know I wouldn’t have made this kind of progress without my therapy team. Their support, encouragement, and expertise are the real secret ingredients behind every milestone I reach. I’m incredibly grateful for each of them — and for the chance to keep moving forward, one step at a time. Here’s to more steps, more breakthroughs, and the people who make it all possible.
