There are certain physical feelings you take for granted until you can no longer experience them easily. For me, that feeling was breaking a sweat. It sounds simple, but it’s a tangible sign of hard work and physical exertion. Honestly, I had forgotten what it truly felt like. It’s been ages since I worked hard enough for that satisfying feeling of accomplishment.
But on Wednesday, that all changed.
On Wednesday, August 14th, I had a walking session with the Atalante X exoskeleton. As I began to move, it was different. This wasn’t just a passive motion; I was actually moving, actually using my own energy. And then I felt it: the unmistakable sensation of sweat on my skin.
There’s something so profoundly satisfying and empowering about putting your body in motion and doing something real. In that moment, the sweat wasn’t just sweat; it was proof. It was a powerful reminder of my strength and a connection to my body that felt brand new. It was the feeling of real effort leading to a real result.
Of course, a milestone like this doesn’t happen in a vacuum. I owe a huge thanks to my amazing physical therapists, whose motivation was essential in making this moment possible. Yesterday was more than just a walking session; it was about reclaiming an experience and rediscovering what it feels like to push yourself and feel the powerful, satisfying result of your own hard work.
