Wednesday, September 10, started as a day filled with frustration. The traffic was horrible, thanks to the UN convening in the city, and my scheduled transportation was canceled, leaving me with no choice but to pay an unexpected $150 for an Uber. A short “walking session” was all I could manage, and honestly, my mind wasn’t as focused as it usually is. But sometimes, the most significant victories come from the least expected moments.
Instead of letting the chaos get to me, I just kept walking. I decided not to stop, but just keep going. As the session went on, I found myself dropping my assistance level without even consciously trying. Before I knew it, the session was over. The physical effort was its own reward, but the true win was the feeling of accomplishment. It showed me that even when things aren’t perfect and distractions are high, I can still push through and achieve my goals. It was money well spent.
The good day didn’t end there. For the past week, I hadn’t been sleeping well or getting any uninterrupted rest. Last night, however, I finally had a blessed six hours of continuous sleep. I woke up feeling like a completely different person—refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the day.
This experience reminded me that victories aren’t always grand or planned. Sometimes they are small, personal moments of perseverance. It can be a short but powerful walking session, or a much-needed night of blessed, uninterrupted sleep. These are the moments that truly make a difference.
I would love to hear from you. What’s a small victory that has made a big difference in your life recently?
