From Support Seeker to Conference Coordinator: My Exciting Journey with NWACS

I’m thrilled to share some personal news that reflects my deep passion for a cause close to my heart. My journey with the Northwest Augmentative Communication Society (NWACS) has taken an exciting new turn!

It all began last year when I, as an AAC user, was searching for a support system and a community of people who understood my struggles with AT and AAC. I started writing blog posts for their website, but I wanted a larger role. I yearned to contribute my time, skills, and experience to something truly meaningful. Little did I know how profoundly I would be impacted by what I experienced.

I saw firsthand the incredible work NWACS does for individuals with complex communication needs and their families. It wasn’t just about providing support; it was about empowering individuals to connect, express themselves, and participate fully in life. This experience ignited a fire within me, compelling me to do more.

So, I took the next step and joined the NWACS board, eager to contribute to the organization’s strategic direction and help shape its future. Now, I’m honored and thrilled to announce that I’ve stepped into the role of Conference Coordinator! This new position allows me to dive even deeper into the heart of NWACS’s mission.

Why NWACS Matters: A Voice for Everyone

For those unfamiliar, NWACS is a powerhouse of support dedicated to advancing and supporting the use of AAC. They provide essential training, resources, support, and advocacy, creating a world where everyone has a voice.
