On November 20, 2024, I had the pleasure of participating as a panelist at an AT Awareness Event hosted by Wilson Inclusive Solutions (WINS). During the event, I shared my experiences as an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) user. AAC is a form of AT (Assistive Technology) that allows people with communication disabilities to communicate and express themselves.
I discussed my challenges in communicating without speech and how AAC and AT have empowered me to express myself more accurately and engage with others more effectively. I also emphasized the importance of fostering inclusivity and understanding in society to ensure that individuals who rely on AAC can fully participate in all aspects of life.
The event provided a platform for attendees to learn more about AAC and AT and their benefits, challenges, and strategies for supporting individuals who use AAC. It was an enriching experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a panelist, share my perspective, and raise awareness about AT and AAC.
Thank you, Wilson Inclusive Solutions, for inviting me to share my experiences as an AAC and AT user and professional!
