About
Promoting independence through inclusive technology and authentic insight.
I’m Esther Klang, an accessibility tester, consultant, and advocate
When brain stem tumor removal surgery left me quadriplegic, I required tracheostomy and ventilator support. This experience ignited my purpose: to fight for meaningful changes that improve the lives of people with disabilities and advocate for accessible tech so that everyone can live independently.
I’ve dedicated my life to making technology accessible through community building, advocacy, and accessibility testing.

My story: From challenge to purpose
Life takes unexpected turns. After becoming quadriplegic in 2006, I’ve dedicated my life to making technology accessible for everyone through testing, education, and community support.
Your phone, tablet, and computer–these aren’t just gadgets. They’re lifelines to independence, employment, safety, and connection.

My work: Turning lived experience into impact
Over the past 19 years, I’ve turned my lived experience into expertise. I’ve immersed myself in the world of digital accessibility, assistive technology, and alternative and augmentative communication.
Today, I work as an accessibility tester, consultant, and advocate, helping individuals and organizations create, and utilize, technologies that truly empower people.
Through my work, I hope to educate people about the inaccessibility of our society, and fight discrimination through advocacy and education. People with disabilities aren’t defined by their conditions – we’re individuals with rich emotional lives, unique viewpoints, and valuable contributions to make.

What I do: Building a more inclusive digital world
As a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), I collaborate with developers, organizations, and communities to ensure that everyone has the tools and support they need to live independently.
Here are some of my services:
- Test and evaluate assistive technologies website and other software for real-world usability.
- Speak and write about inclusive design and accessibility.
- Partner with organizations to make technology that works for everyone.

My core values
Accessibility
I focus on solutions that improve independence, efficiency, and ease of use-creating accessibility that genuinely supports people, not just compliance checklists.
Advocacy
I explain accessibility in a way that is clear, direct, and easy for anyone to understand, making complex ideas usable in real situations.
Community
I work alongside individuals and teams in a way that honors their goals and builds confidence. Every project is grounded in partnership.

My story is one of adaptation, but my work is about empowerment. I’m here to help people and organizations create technology that works for real lives, not just devices.
I primarily communicate through written channels, as it allows me to provide clear and thoughtful responses. However, feel free to connect in whatever way is most comfortable for you.
