My Experience at the 2025 New Jersey’s Abilities Expo: Innovations, Community, and Connection

Last Friday, May 2, 2025, I had the chance to attend the Abilities Expo at the NJ Convention & Expo Center—and I’m still buzzing from all the amazing experiences.

First stop: the Quickie’s Wheelchair Repair area. My wheelchair tires were totally flat, making for a rough ride, but their team jumped right in, replaced my tires, and even had a range of wheelchairs ready so I could transfer and be comfortable while they worked. My wheelchair was fixed and ready to go in just a few minutes. Huge thanks to their excellent technicians!

Another highlight was discovering Naqi and their cutting-edge earbuds. They let you control tech devices hands-free- and voice-free—seriously impressive. I used just my head movements to color a picture in less than two minutes. The earbud fit perfectly, and after trying lots of head-tracking tools in the past, this one blew them all away. I can’t wait to try it again!

I also checked out the Click Heaters booth, where the Pro Touch 6-12, a wireless TENS/EMS device for pain relief and muscle stimulation, was on sale. This is exactly what I’ve been searching for to help retrain and stimulate my muscles, especially as I’m working hard on walking in Wandercraft’s Atalante X exoskeleton (and practicing out of it, too).

Last but not least, I finally met Rachel Levy, co-founder of the Babel Group and VP of Customer at Voiceitt. She’s greatly supported my Voiceitt journey, and I’m honored to call her a friend.

Grateful for everyone making this community what it is. Can’t wait for next year!
